Weslo cadence r 5.2 treadmill reviews

When you are just getting started out with running it can be difficult. Should you get out on the road and just go for it? Or would it be better to get in some miles right in your own home and build up some confidence before you hit the open road? Well, one option is to look at a reasonably priced machine such as the weslo cadence r 5.2 treadmill.

This is not a treadmill for experienced road runners looking for a challenge. If that’s you, it might be best to check out some of the other treadmills we have looked at here.

However, if you want to get started with some walking or jogging in your own home with minimal impact on your joints then read on.

If you are familiar with the weslo brand of fitness equipment you will know they have been making fitness machines for a long time including of course treadmills. This particular model we are looking at is one of the longer running (no pun intended) products from there range.

This means it has been well tried and tested over the years and hundreds of existing users have given it a reasonably high rating usually around 4 out or 5 stars which is not bad. We recently tried out the newer version of this model here if you want to take a look.

Does it have any interesting extra features?

The weslo cadence r 5.2 treadmill is a fairly basic model so don’t expect lots of bells and whistles. It does however have a comfort cell cushion deck system to minimize impact on the running deck. This is great for those looking out for their knee joints.

The LCD console also gives the readout in a tinted blue colour. This is great for visibility if your tracking your workouts. I keep my treadmill in the basement so this feature helps me see the reading in dim light.

You can track your speed, your overall time and how many calories you have burned during your workout. This is quite helpful if your tracking towards a weight loss or fitness goal.

Will I get a good workout?

Right from the start I did say this wasn’t a treadmill for those of you who are experience runners. The top speed of 10MPH does somewhat limit the possibilities with this model. I would recommend the weslo cadence r 5.2 treadmill to someone who wants to get in some light exercise such as walking. It is also a great way to introduce light jogging before trying it out on the road. The cushion deck is a whole lot easier on the knees too.

Does it take up much space?

One thing this weslo cadence treadmill is great for is space saving. Its overall size is pretty good when in use so even in a small space you can get your workout done.

It also folds up with the deck hinged at the base. This ads storage options with small wheels on the bars allowing you to move the treadmill out of the way when not in use. I keep mine under the stairs in my basement but you could use a closet or behind a door. Its pretty compact once its folded.

So whats not to like about the weslo cadence r 5.2 treadmill?

The warranty is a little short on this model. It does have a  1 year warranty on the motor but it only comes with 90 days on the parts and labor. So at three months we thought that was pretty short.

Speed it not its best feature either. Like I said its for walking and light jogging. If you want to become an olympic sprinter then think about something a little more feature rich.

Whats the verdict?

Personally out of this range of treadmills I would choose the r 5.9 model. They are quite similar but the 5.9 is slightly newer and up to date.

Having said that this model does have a large discount available at the moment so for the price its not bad. Check out the most up to date pricing available below.
