Best Rectangle Trampoline-buyers guide

So the kids are getting older and they’ve moved on a bit from their Little Tikes 3-foot trampoline. Time to start looking at a proper grown-up rectangle trampoline for your budding gymnast to develop their physical fitness, muscle coordination, and body confidence. But why rectangle? Because this shape provides the most even bounce throughout the jump pad and provides extra length to perform all those amazing back flips and tumbles!

However, as the size and durability of the product goes up, unfortunately, more often than not, so does the price tag. We’ve searched the internet and looked through the various models available to find the best rectangle trampoline just for you. About the Skywalker Trampolines Rectangle Trampoline

With a jumping surface area of over 80 square feet and a maximum weight capacity of 200 pounds, this ASTM approved rectangle trampoline is sure to keep a few of your little monkeys happy for hours, days and months on end. With a durable,weather-proofed steel frame and a heavy-duty green spring pad set on 84 thick steel springs, this trampoline provides maximum bounce and stability for years of good, old-fashioned jumping fun.

Safety features include its patented “No-Gap Enclosure System” which attaches the enclosure net to the mat at each and every spring, meaning no dangerous gaps for little fingers and toes to get stuck. Another safety feature of the design is the inclusion of 8 vertical poles around the enclosure area, padded for extra safety, to add stability to the structure.

The Good Bits:
  • Gap free enclosure: Most rectangle trampolines come with this these days but it’s still worth mentioning as it’s a good safety feature and really does reduce the risk of injuries.
  • Even bounce all around: This is due to the large amount and even placement of springs under the spring pad.
  • Relatively easy assembly: Put aside a couple of hours, two adults and a jug of coffee!
  • Very Sturdy: No wobbling or tipping, even with multiple kids on at one time.

The Bad Bits:
  • Outdoors only: Just in case you were planning on assembling this in your lounge room…don’t!
  • It has springs: While this means it’s super extra bouncy (like a proper grown-up trampoline should be) it also poses a bit of a pinching risk for little fingers . However, the springs are safely tucked away underneath the jumping pad so it really shouldn’t be a problem.
  • Not portable: You won’t be bringing this to Grandma’s for the weekend. It’s definitely more of a permanent fixture in your back garden.
  • No ladder included so perhaps it’s a bit awkward for younger kids to climb onto by themselves. However, this is possibly a good thing if they’re on the younger end of the scale as they can only get on it with the help of a bigger person…think of it as another safety feature.

What the Reviews Say:

Generally good reviews about the quality, durability, and functionality of the product itself with most reviews stating that assembly is fairly quick and easy and the kids love it! Any bad reviews are generally based around missing parts upon delivery and poor or slow customer service when trying to rectify the problem.

One issue that popped up a couple of times was that the vertical poles used to hold up the enclosure start to get a bit squeaky after a short period of time. However, this is nothing that a bit of WD40 won’t fix.

A few reviewers were unhappy that the product was smaller than they were expecting. However, the dimensions are clearly stated so check this before you make any purchase and make sure you’re buying the right rectangle trampoline to suit your family’s needs.

What We Say:

This is a very good product for the price you’re paying and it’s at a much lower cost than similar items on the market. Our instructions were missing from the packaging (Boo! A couple of people had a similar problem I believe). However, it was fairly easy to figure it out and assembly wasn’t too much of a heartache. The structure is good and solid and our 2 kids love jumping on it for hours. If you have more kids than this I would probably recommend a slightly bigger trampoline model if you want maximum value for money and a good few years out of it…after all, those kids just keep getting bigger! If you’re outdoor space is limited, however, this is a great product and will provide hours of safe, fun exercise for your kids!

About the Summit 14’ Rectangle Trampoline:

This one comes with a slightly bigger price-tag as we start to review a full-on rectangle trampoline, suitable for a gymnast (or even a wanna-be gymnast). ASTM certified, this heavy duty, 12 gauge rust-resistant steel frame provides maximum support and stability, whilst a total of 84 springs provide a superior and even bounce throughout the jumping surface. All products used in the product are weather, rust and UV resistant. This includes the UV protected polypropylene jumping mat and the enclosure, made from high quality polyethylene, ensuring years of endurance and fun from your investment.

The Good Bits:
  • Good size
  • Very durable materials
  • Can have multiple kids on at once.
  • Sturdy enough for adults (within maximum weight capacity) so it’s a healthy and fun investment for all the family.

The Bad Bits:
  • The price tag! A little bit pricier but you’re definitely getting what you pay for with a strong and reliable model.
  • Not portable…definitely a permanent garden feature.
  • No ladder included. You can purchase ladders separately unless you enjoy the challenge of clambering in!

What the Reviews Say:

Only 5 and 4 Star reviews for this one. That said, there’s only 16 reviews in total. But still, a great product, described by one buyer as “safe and solid”. It appears to fulfill its claim of being weather and rust proof and stands up to ice, snow, rain and heat without problems. Again, the only negative review seems to be a few missing parts on delivery. Why can nobody seem to get that right!

What We Say:

Strong, sturdy, fairly easy to put together and great strong, even bounce from this rectangle trampoline. We love that adults can make use of it too as it makes it a great long-term investment for the whole family (the dog might even have a go!) and definitely encourages everybody off the sofa and into the fresh air for some exercise.

About the JumpSport 10’ x 17’ StagedBounce Trampoline:

Plenty of going on with this high-performance trampoline. We’ve got safety features and patented designs all over the place…which may account for the rather hefty price tag. Firstly, we’ve got Patented StageBounce technology. What’s this you ask? Well, it allows 50% of the springs to engage immediately (like a regular trampoline), and 50% of the springs engaging a fraction of a second later, apparently allowing for a more forgiving jump surface. Padded, shock absorbing poles flex upon impact to provide a safer jumping environment for your littlies, and the patented Triple-Fail-Safe engineering uses two support systems to hold the net in place as an extra safety feature.

All of this around a durable, powder-coated steel frame allow for a safe and superior jumping experience and can simulate a training environment for any budding gymnasts out there. For a more detailed description of added features check out the Amazon site.

The Good Bits:
  • Narrow profile whilst still allowing for a good size jumping area. Meaning efficient use of space and therefore suitable for smaller outdoor areas, eg; side yards.
  • Multiple and varied safety and function features (as discussed above) to improve overall experience of this rectangle trampoline.
  • High Maximum Weight Capacity of 200 pounds (and tested to a combined weight of 800 pounds!) means peace mind whilst allowing multiple kids on to jump at once.
  • No Zips! It’s patented overlapping entry design means no zips to break and no strain and tearing of the meshing around the zipper area, which seems to be a recurring problem among other designs.
  • 10 Year Warranty on the Frame! Can’t say fairer than that.

The Bad Bits:
  • Pricetag! This is not a cheap and cheerful product for entertaining your kids for a couple of months over the summer. This is more of a long-term (and very worthwhile) investment in your family’s health and well-being over a period of years.
  • No ladder, which is a bit of disappointment considering the price tag.

What the Reviews Say:

Limited reviews on this one, possibly due to the larger price tag. However, the reviews that are available, state that the product is high quality, high performance. And is well worth the extra investment.

[easyazon_cta align=”center” identifier=”B002VRGEMI” key=”small-light” locale=”US” tag=”activeplaytime-20″]

What We Say:

Plenty of additional features on this one that you won’t find on a lower or mid-range rectangle trampoline. This is definitely a high-performance model that will offer a superior bouncing experience for your budding gymnast.

Conclusion:

Well, it depends what you want a trampoline for really. If your kids are budding gymnasts that require a good, high-performance training area at home to improve their skills. Then the JumpSport StageBounce Trampoline is worth the extra investment. The extra jump space available and the added features such as it’s patented StageBounce Technology improve on the overall jumping experience. They also may allow them to excel in their chosen sport.

If, however, you’re kids are just after a regular trampoline to have some fun on and get some exercise then the favorite pick is probably the middle of the range Summit 14’ Rectangle Trampoline (Product 2). The extra size and sturdiness is worth paying a few bucks extra for without breaking the bank!
